OnePlus 15R 12GB/512GB Black
£266.99
The OnePlus 15R 12GB/512GB Black combines an elegant design with performance for everyday use and demanding tasks. It features Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with up to 165 Hz in supported modes, and a 7400 mAh battery with up to 80 W SUPERVOOC charging. The 50 MP main camera can record 4K at up to 120 fps in the relevant mode. IP69K protection provides resistance to dust and water jets under test conditions, without making the phone waterproof in every situation. ## Processor The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset is designed for gaming, using several apps at once and editing large files. Its maximum clock speed of up to 3.8 GHz provides headroom for demanding tasks. Actual speed and smoothness depend on apps, settings and device temperature. ## Artificial intelligence features Smart features help simplify everyday use. According to the supplier, system optimisation can adapt app launching and background task management to usage habits; operation depends on the software, permissions and available settings. Intelligent camera processing helps recognise scenes and adjust images for photos and videos. The supplier also describes power management adapted to usage. These tools do not always guarantee the best shot or a fixed battery life, and some AI features depend on the country, language and system version. ## Connectivity 5G connectivity supports downloads, streaming and high-quality video calls with a compatible network and plan. Power and thermal management aim to balance performance, consumption and comfort during intensive use. The phone may become warm, and speeds depend on coverage, congestion and the apps used. ## Battery The 7400 mAh battery offers a substantial reserve for streaming, calls and gaming. All-day endurance depends on usage, the network and settings, so intensive tasks may require an earlier recharge. SUPERVOOC supports up to 80 W with a compatible adapter, sold separately in this offer. As a reference, OnePlus specifies charging from 1 to 50% in around 22 minutes, rather than a full charge in half an hour. Testing used the official 80 W adapter at 25 ± 1°C, with Smart Rapid Charging enabled and the screen off. Actual times vary with conditions, but short charging sessions are convenient on busy days. ## Display The 6.83-inch AMOLED display with 2800 × 1272 pixels delivers detailed images, vivid colours and deep contrast for films, games and social media. It reaches up to 165 Hz in supported modes and games; the refresh rate used depends on content and settings. Scrolling, typing and gestures benefit from smooth presentation and response, without every app running constantly at 165 Hz. ## Cameras The 50 MP main camera can capture detailed photos, with processing assistance for low-light scenes. Results depend on lighting, movement and settings. 4K recording at up to 120 fps in the supported mode provides a basis for smooth video and slow-motion sequences. It is useful for vlogs, creative content and cinematic-looking memories; available resolution, frame rate and features vary with the capture mode. ## Storage The 12 GB of physical RAM helps with switching apps, gaming and video editing. The 512 GB of UFS 4.1 storage provides quick access to photos, videos, apps and other files. Some capacity is reserved for the system, and card expansion is not supported. 4K videos take substantial space, so file management is still worthwhile despite the generous capacity. ## IP69K certification The IP69K rating concerns dust protection and testing with high-pressure, high-temperature water jets; it does not itself define an immersion depth. The resistance may help with rain or accidental splashes but does not guarantee protection against every liquid or exposure. OnePlus limits water resistance to fresh water and warns that it decreases over time. The phone is not intended for professional diving; avoid seawater and charging it while wet. Water-ingress damage resulting from failure to meet the stated conditions is not covered by the warranty. Its understated finish and comfortable grip suit everyday use. ## OxygenOS 16 OxygenOS 16, based on Android 16 at launch, offers a responsive, intuitive interface with notification, privacy and personalisation options. Updates help maintain the system and its security; availability depends on the model and regional schedule and does not eliminate every software fault. Face unlock and the integrated fingerprint reader offer convenient access. A backup method must be configured, and the system can still request a PIN or password, for example after a restart.
