Google introduced Google Pixel 9 Pro 128GB Black on 13 August 2024 within its Pro range. It combines Gemini tools and other Google AI features such as Circle to Search and Best Take, subject to each service's requirements. The rear system has 50MP, 48MP and 48MP cameras. It offers photo and video options, including output up to 8K through Video Boost and its requirements, without guaranteeing the best result in every scene. The 6.3-inch OLED screen offers vivid colours, while Tensor G4 and 16GB RAM help with apps and multitasking. Performance depends on load and software; every app cannot operate simultaneously without limits. Battery life depends on use, and Google announces seven years of updates from first availability on the US Google Store. Working with other devices requires compatibility and setup rather than absolute security or perfect integration. ## Gemini and AI tools Circle to Search selects onscreen content to find related information in compatible apps, useful for identifying a statue while travelling, for example. Gemini helps with tasks such as text translation, subject to language, region, account and service. Audio Magic Eraser adjusts unwanted sounds in compatible videos rather than every kind of audio file. Best Take uses compatible images to select and combine expressions in a group photo. Results may need checking and do not guarantee that everyone looks perfect. These Google tools have different software, connection, permission and sometimes subscription requirements; not all are Gemini commands, and unannounced future features are not guaranteed. ## Photos and video Google Pixel 9 Pro combines a 50MP Main, 48MP Ultra Wide and 48MP Telephoto. Photo and video quality depend on light, motion, mode and processing. Ultra Wide expands framing, while Telephoto has 5x optics without guaranteeing loss-free quality in every shot. The 42MP front camera with autofocus offers higher resolution than Pixel 8 Pro's front camera, without resolution alone determining quality. Rear video up to 8K at 30 fps uses Video Boost, Google Photos and cloud-backup processing. It requires an account, connection, compatible settings and upload/processing time; this is not unrestricted native 8K recording from each of the three cameras. It can serve concert footage or a child's first steps. The front camera records up to 4K in supported modes; video-call resolution also depends on app and network. ## Colourful display The 6.3-inch LTPO OLED screen suits films, series and other content. Gorilla Glass Victus 2 adds protection against certain scratches or impacts without preventing all damage. Adaptive refresh rates from 1 to 120Hz follow content. A higher rate helps compatible games and animation; a lower one can reduce power with static content. Actual savings depend on use. Pixel 9 Pro XL shares the Tensor G4 platform and cameras if you prefer a larger device, but display, battery and charging differ. Speed varies with app, temperature and load; not every task is instant. The 16GB RAM helps switch between work and personal apps. Software and task count also affect fluidity, without a promise of unlimited multitasking. ## Battery and charging The battery has a typical capacity of 4,700mAh. Google states over 24 hours under its usage model; actual endurance and charging frequency depend on network, apps, settings and battery condition. Identical endurance or service life for every user is not guaranteed. Wired charging reaches up to 27W under Google's tests. The up-to-55% result in around 30 minutes was measured with the Google 45W USB-C charger, sold separately, and suitable cable. Wireless charging reaches up to 21W with Pixel Stand second generation and up to 12W with compatible Qi EPP chargers. Actual power and timing may be slower and require suitable power supplies and equipment. ## Security Google announces seven years of OS and security updates from first US Store availability for this 2024 generation, with a 2031 horizon under the applicable policy. The period does not restart with every purchase or guarantee every future feature. Spam protection in Phone and Messages, malware and phishing protections help reduce certain risks with compatible apps and settings; security across the entire internet is not guaranteed. Face recognition and fingerprint add unlocking methods. Other authorised methods such as PIN or password also exist; access by only one person in every circumstance cannot be guaranteed. ## Google ecosystem It works with compatible Pixel Watch 3 or Pixel Buds Pro 2. Shared functions require supported accounts, apps, software, settings and connections. Google Assistant or other compatible service availability depends on product, language, region and software. Google Home controls compatible household devices. Switching and synchronisation depend on each feature rather than perfect automatic integration of every item of data or action.
