Apple iPhone 17 Pro 256GB Orange
£296.99
Apple introduced the iPhone 17 Pro 256GB Orange on 9 September 2025 as its most powerful iPhone at that time. This finish, called Cosmic Orange by Apple, combines a new design, the A19 Pro chip, advanced cameras and a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display. Apple Intelligence supplies everyday tools, subject to software, language and regional requirements. Revised cooling, battery life and professional video modes are designed for demanding use. ## Intelligent design with strong performance The aluminium unibody integrates a vapour chamber that distributes heat and helps sustain performance in games, video editing and AI tasks. The phone can still become warm during intensive use. The design also makes more room for the battery and works with the efficient A19 Pro; actual battery life depends on use. If you prefer a particularly thin and light alternative, compare iPhone Air, which also supports Apple Intelligence. ## Vivid Super Retina XDR display The 6.3-inch display supports ProMotion up to 120Hz and reaches 3,000 nits of peak outdoor brightness under suitable conditions. Ceramic Shield 2 protects the front, while the back uses Ceramic Shield. Apple reports three times better front scratch resistance than the previous generation, alongside a coating that reduces reflections. These improvements help when viewing pictures outdoors or watching films, without guaranteeing protection against every kind of damage. ## A19 Pro chip and Apple Intelligence Apple reports up to 40% better sustained performance than the previous generation from the combination of A19 Pro and the new thermal system; this is not a 40% improvement in every task. The chip handles switching between demanding apps, gaming and compatible features such as translation. The N1 wireless chip supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 and improves features such as AirDrop and Personal Hotspot. Speed and reliability also depend on the network and accessories, including AirPods. ## A camera system for creators Three 48MP Fusion cameras — Main, Ultra Wide and Telephoto — provide focal-length options that Apple describes as the equivalent of eight lenses; there are not eight physical cameras. The telephoto has 4x optics and an 8x optical-quality option using a sensor crop. These suit portraits and distant subjects. The updated Photonic Engine processes colour, detail and noise, including in low light, with results depending on the scene. The Vibrant Photographic Style provides another finish option in compatible software. ## Selfies and video with the Center Stage camera The 18MP Center Stage front camera offers a wide field of view and automatic framing for group selfies, video calls and vlogs. Dual Capture records from the front and rear cameras simultaneously. There is 4K HDR video with Dolby Vision and compatible ProRes modes; resolution, frame rate, storage and accessory requirements vary by mode. iPhone 17 Pro Max offers a 6.9-inch screen for those wanting more space for photography or gaming. ## Working within the Apple ecosystem Handoff continues tasks between a compatible iPhone and Mac; a compatible Apple Watch can control the camera, and Universal Clipboard helps copy between iPhone, iPad and Mac. These features require compatible devices, apps, software, Apple Account and settings. AirPods Pro 3 provide compatible Adaptive Audio and personalised Spatial Audio features. The usual Bluetooth connection between these earphones and iPhone does not carry lossless audio. ## iOS 26 makes your iPhone smarter The model launched with iOS 26. Compatible features include Live Translation for text and voice, Smart Reply, visual intelligence for onscreen content and shortcuts to actions. Notification tools and Focus modes help manage attention, while the Games app brings gaming content together. Availability depends on the feature, software, language and region. Apple Intelligence combines on-device processing with Private Cloud Compute for certain requests; processing is not entirely local, and absolute freedom from privacy risks cannot be promised. ## Longer battery life and fast charging At launch, Apple highlighted this Pro generation's battery life, supported by a larger battery, software and an efficient chip. Daily endurance depends on use, network and battery condition. In Apple's tests, it can reach up to 50% in around 20 minutes with a compatible 40W or higher USB-C adapter and suitable cable. MagSafe and Qi2 support up to 25W with compatible chargers and power supplies, sold separately; actual power varies. iPhone 17 is another option if you can do without some Pro features; compare available offers.
